Seasons Hospice will be hosting our 18th annual gala this year on Saturday, November 18 at the elegant Hilton Hotel – Rochester, featuring an exquisite culinary experience by J. Powers.

This event marks the first major event under the direction of Seasons’ Executive Director, Kristina Wright-Peterson. Kristina is committed to continuing the tradition of hosting one of Rochester’s premiere charity fundraising events, while highlighting the mission and vision of Seasons Hospice. The event welcomes all, including a cross section of our community represented by medical, business, and community leaders. We anticipate attendance to be 300 guests, and our goal is to raise $150,000 to support the exceptional end-of-life care and grief support that Seasons Hospice provides to our family, friends, neighbors, and to our broader community.

All guests will enjoy event emcee Tom Overlie, of KTTC News. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in the long-standing traditions of the Silent and Live Auction as well as our annual Call to the Heart fundraising appeal.

Three renowned artists will be featured throughout the evening.

Annie Young (annieyoungarts) is an award-winning American painter and fiber artist living with adult-onset blindness: "I feel things. I dream things. I create things. That's the reality of my world. It's filled with faith, hope and possibilities!" Explore with her the profound question: do you see what i feel?

Young has had two family members receive end-of-life care at Seasons Hospice House. In honor of these family members and the family members who cared for her loved ones, she has created a special collection of four paintings. These paintings will be auctioned at the event and will be donated to the Hospice House.

Young will be featured during a pre-event reception that is open to those who purchase VIP tickets. During the VIP reception, Young will host a random selection of attendees on a special “light touch navigation and exhibition” of several of her original paintings and share some of the navigation tricks/tools of her process.

Local dancers, including and under the artistic direction of dancer and choreographer Amanda Moder, will share a contemporary ballet piece titled “Waterfalls.” This dance is Moder’s original choreography, which debuted in the Rochester Ensemble of Dance (RED) show in the spring of 2023. It explores the tension between unresolved despair and fullness of hope - a tension deeply woven into the fabric of humanity. Likewise, the dance embodies this tension and the way it points to an innate need for connection.

Moder hopes this piece can serve as an invitation to hold space for the tension of authentic, deep pain amidst sincere, beautiful hope. An invitation for all to reconnect with what it means to be human.

We will close the evening with a well-known musical talent, Annie Mack, an Accomplished Singer-Songwriter and Healing Justice Activist. As a Queer Black Woman, creative, mother of three and radical truth teller, Annie’s lived experience provides a deep wealth of knowledge and insight into what it is like to navigate oppressive systems while trying to pursue black joy, healing, and justice.

Mack shares that “after my mother passed away, the thing that really stood out to me was to do something that you like before you leave this life.” Mack has worked as a Seasons Hospice volunteer and is a death doula.

Our 2023 Call to the Heart video will introduce you to a special couple, Eddie and Brenda Brekke, who will share their 20+ year love story – a love story that began in our grief group in 2001.
